This is the rarest US Navy binocular ever made. Though technically, it was never made. It never went into production for use by the Navy. I have been able to research the existence of only 5 prototypes, and this is one of those. The unique design, which uses mirrors instead of prisms, was quite advanced for it's day. And certainly it was ahead of it's time. This binocular completes the Trio of wide field US Navy binoculars along with the somewhat more common Bausch & Lomb Mark 41 Wide Field 7x50, and the SARD Mark 43 Wide Field 6x42. Both of which, by the way, I happen to also have listed on eBay at this time. This Pioneer Eclipse Mark 42 has recently been cleaned, collimated and fine tuned at Suddarth Optical, and you can probably still find details of that on the Suddarth Optical Facebook page. The overall condition of this one is good, though the mirrors are quite tarnished and amber tinted as a result. The pictures will tell the story here, so please check them out in detail.
