Actually, "the red star" BPO 7X30 appeared in the mid-90-ies, and were identical to the military B7X30. It was said they did not undergo such severe tests as their military twin brothers, and were branded in a different way plus the red star, which made them very popular in the West as "tank binoculars"...though they had nothing to do with armored detachments. At the same time, MP 8X25 KOMZ monoculars with red star entered the market, too. Nowadays, both "red star" devices are collectable and not common...later on, BPO 7X30 were already made with the new civilian eyepieces and without red star. |
